StudyWhere.ai — Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Some are set by us ("first-party cookies"), others by our partners ("third-party cookies"). Some expire when you close your browser ("session cookies"), others persist for a set period ("persistent cookies"). Pixels and SDKs perform equivalent functions in emails and apps, and this Policy covers them too.

Strictly necessary. Required for the Service to function: authentication, session management, security tokens, load balancing, consent-preference storage, and fraud prevention. These cannot be switched off through our banner because the Service does not work without them. Legal basis, where one is required: legitimate interests / strict necessity. Typical duration: session to 12 months.

Functional. Remember your choices — language, saved destination preferences, chat session continuity so an AI conversation can resume where you left off. Duration: up to 12 months. Set only with your consent where law requires it.

Analytics. Measure how the Service is used: pages visited, features clicked, session length, drop-off points in AI conversations, and referral sources. We use these to fix what's broken and improve matching quality. Providers may include Google Analytics and equivalent measurement tools. Duration: up to 24 months. Consent-based where required.

Advertising and measurement. Track ad performance, attribute sign-ups to campaigns, and build audiences — including hashed-identifier custom and lookalike audiences on platforms such as Meta and Google. These cookies and pixels are set by the advertising platforms and let them recognize your device across sites. Duration: up to 24 months, per platform policy. Always consent-based where consent is required, and never used for users identified as under 18.

Advertising and analytics cookies are set by third parties acting under their own policies. The data they collect through their cookies — device identifiers, browsing events on our site, ad interactions — is processed by them as described in their own privacy documentation. We configure these integrations to receive only what measurement and audience-building require, but we do not control the platforms' independent use of data collected through their own technologies.

Consent banner. On first visit from a jurisdiction where consent is required, the banner lets you accept all, reject all non-essential, or configure categories individually. Non-essential cookies do not fire until you consent. You can reopen the banner and change your choices at any time through the cookie settings control in the Service footer.

Browser controls. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and chat continuity.

Universal opt-out signals. We honor Global Privacy Control and equivalent recognized signals where applicable law requires, treating them as an opt-out of advertising cookies and of any "sale" or "sharing" as defined by your local law.

Platform-level controls. Meta and Google offer their own ad-preference dashboards governing how they use data collected across sites, independent of our banner.

Refusing non-essential cookies does not block access to the Service. It means we can't remember preferences between visits, our analytics won't include your sessions, and any ads you see for StudyWhere elsewhere will be untargeted rather than absent.

We update this Policy when our cookie usage changes — new tools, new categories, new durations. The current version is always available at this page with its effective date. Where a change expands consent-based usage, the banner will re-prompt affected users before new cookies fire.
